Vice Principal Pastoral
£60,000 – Birmingham.
Elmhurst Ballet School, in Association with Birmingham Royal Ballet, is a world-renowned centre for the training and education of talented, passionate and committed young ballet dancers. The school was recently judged to be excellent in all areas by ISI and outstanding in all areas by OFSTED and has an international reputation for the quality of its work.
Most students board at the school and it offers fully equipped modern boarding houses for years 7 to 13. Lower School boarding is located on the School site and Upper School boarding is just a short walk away.
The school seeks to recruit an Vice Principal – Pastoral to start in January 2024 (although an earlier start date is welcome).
The successful applicant will be responsible for the overall management of the school’s pastoral support to students, safeguarding systems, with oversight of systems to promote good behaviour and the provision of boarding.
Through skilled and compassionate line management of the DSL Team, Director of Heath & Wellbeing and Heads of Lower and Upper School Boarding, they will ensure that student support systems are relevant, proactive and supportive, success is celebrated and rewarded and that staff are well equipped with good behaviour management strategies relevant to the school’s unique context. They will make sure that boarding is a caring and nurturing environment dedicated to the wellbeing and education of students and that our safeguarding provision remains outstanding and continually moves forward.
As a key member of Elmhurst Ballet School’s Senior Leadership team, they will be an imaginative, innovative and compassionate senior leader with a track record of getting things done. Their professional career to date will show exemplary commitment to promoting the wellbeing and safety of young people. We need someone able to listen, empathise and take decisions. Significant experience of leading safeguarding and of managing teams is essential. An understanding of life in boarding is welcome but not essential.
Staff development is a priority at Elmhurst. We will support the successful candidate to grow professionally, flourish personally and contribute strategically to the success of the school.
Senior leaders have access to an external professional coach, three times yearly. The team undertake strategy days to work on school developments and progress the 2025 Strategy to continually secure improvements.
